Yesteryear is the only book I read this month that I want to talk about and I’m dying for you to read it because it seems like one of those you, in particular, will have *THOUGHTS* about. And you might hate it, which I would also enjoy.
I just started it and it is intriguing but I have no idea where it is going. I will anxiously await any discussion about it because it is getting a lot of buzz!
Loved This Is Happiness!! You might enjoy the Close Reads Podcast. They did a read-along earlier this year and their insights and discussions made it an even more enjoyable reading experience for me.
One book I read this month that I was surprised by how much I loved was “The Infinite Sadness of Small Appliances” by Glenn Dixon. It was very timely in that it explored the good, the bad, and the ugly sides of AI and sentient machines. The characters were intriguing and complex (even the appliances!) and I now want a Scout but also to live completely off The Grid. 😅 It felt like “The Brave Little Toaster” but for adults.
This month I loved No One’s Coming by Kevin Hazzard. Now I will read anything about Ebola but this was such a good read on how no one wants to help anyone anymore. I also loved the Lena Dunham book but i will read anything she writes! I revisit this essay all the time. It was really cathartic when both of my parents died and all of these old friends showed up that my kids had never met.
Sarah!! I loved Giant so much and dove into Ragtime even though the description didn't really appeal to me. I'm 2/3 of the way through Ragtime.....and will finish....but am not enjoying. Maybe it will win me over in the last 1/3!! In any case, I wouldn't have picked it up without your recommendation, so thank you for broadening my horizons.
The book that blew me wide open in April was Brooke Nevils' Unspeakable Things about her experience working as an associate producer on the Today Show during the period in which Matt Lauer was fired for misconduct. The book is a revelation, and I cannot stop thinking about it.
I finally read project Hail Mary and loved it. For April, I also read It’s a Love Story by Annabelle Monaghan which was cute and fairly mindless to read.

I loved Unspeakable Things! Really challenged what I thought about that situation.
